Despite the constantly shifting face of education, one thing that has not changed education over the years is the prospect of making it more innovative for children with learning disorders like dysgraphia, dyslexia, ADHD,ADD and so on. Despite the constant effort on the part of Gen Z to get rid of the stigma of mental health and disabilities, many students are still embarrassed to let the adults around them know about the difficulties faced by them in academics, fearing that they would be mocked at and scorned upon for being “dumb” and “stupid”, among the other derogatory terms frequently aimed at students with learning disabilities.

One of the most common learning disorders that evades the attention of students and teachers alike, is probably dysgraphia or the inability to convert thoughts to words. While people with dysgraphia have generally been diagnosed for the lack of fine motor skills, leading to terrible grip of pencils and hence poor handwriting as well as drawing, the perfect way to help these students get better equipped for school is to permit typing out answers and notes rather than pen-and-paper methods. Additionally, their higher risk of spelling errors is mitigated by the common tools like spell-check. So, the newer methods can help alleviate their problems.

Next on the list is ADD/ADHD. These students may be exceptionally academically bright or talented primarily because of their eccentric , innate ability to hyperfocus under circumstances. The traditional classroom learning and high screen time during e-learning makes it extremely difficult for them to focus or stay calm. While Ritalin is the go-to drug for these kids, a better method to help shift the paradigm is gamification of the text-books and modules, making them more visually aesthetic for them. The mobile games based on academics not only makes things exciting and helps them focus but also helps them cuttle screen time as these games will already keep them rejuvenated.

Another disorder on this list is dyslexia, which is by far the most difficult issue to tackle. People with dyslexia are more than often classified as slow or lazy due to their inability to read fast, it is definitely not impossible to make education policies favorable for them. The new trends of podcasts and audio meetings are efficient for helping these students use lectures and audiobooks for more theoretical subjects. They can also use speech to text engines to help dissipate the problem of jumbling of alphabets and words to ensure that their writing is proper .

The most unconventional disorder perhaps is dyscalculia ,that is an incapability to make mathematical calculations. The education systems across the globe are in no way equipped efficiently to tackle this. Hence the optional nature of STEM as an elective is the best way to help these students not be a prey of bullies and society’s taunts. The teachers and guardians too are expected to be empathic to such students just so that the feeling of inferiority does not culminate in them .

While there are more neuro-psychological disorders like Asperger’s Syndrome and so on amongst others, the list enumerated the ones which are conventionally not taken firmly into consideration. It’s up to GenZ to change the face of education around the world to make it appropriate for all gifted spirits around the world.
